Yes folks, we are halfway and starting to take on hills and valleys. Combines have been active in the wheat fields and soon we will be leaving the crops behind for the Eastern States.
Answers to the NW Indiana quiz: 1) Rensellear. Before Wisconsin took the Bears training camp, this was the location where the Chicago Bears trained in the off-season. In the seventies, I believe their running back was killed in a car accident on his way to/from training camp, his name was Willie Galimore. Shortly after that they drafted a running back from Kansas....anyone remember his name?? 2) Crown Point. This important County seat town is where two of our children's original birth certificates are located....I hope that is the answer they gave first....however during the depression this town received noterity as the jail where bank robber John Dillenger escaped. Do any of you know the guise he used to do it?? 3). Valparaiso. The home of Orville Reddenbacher popcorn!! 4). Gary. The home of the largest steel plant in the world, US Steel...if you have ever drove through this area when the wind is out of the North, you will remember it due to the smog and smell. The plant is built out into Lake Michigan, allowing ore carriers to deposit their loads. It is also the city where the first black mayor in America was elected to office, his name, Richard Hatcher. 5) Roselawn. You will have to talk to me direct to get the answer to this!!

This is a picture of a 1962 Ford Fairlaine. These were very prominent in the mid sixties, as seen on the Andy Griffith show and in many pictures of the JFK assassination in 1963. There is a 1962 Galaxie 500 in a garage in the Ozarks that would give this old bird a run for his money!
