Can anyone answer this science question for me? I have been seeing bright red sunrises. Why do the pictures I take show the sun to be white?

Day 7. Rochester to Huntington IN. 46 miles
It was a nice short day today. It was foggy and semi-dark when I started ( now on Eastern time ), but turned into a beautiful, sunny morning. I was at the hotel by 10:30 and that included a restaurant stop for a late breakfast. I even beat my SAG to the hotel!
Can anyone answer this science question for me? I have been seeing bright red sunrises. Why do the pictures I take show the sun to be white?

Wow! I went to Huntington College (now Huntington University) for two years - fall 1977 to summer 1979). I've not been back there since then.
